The holiday destination for people who don't really like going on holiday.

Re: Dubai..........
I have lived in Dubai for the past five years and visited many times before that. My reason for being there is purely business. If I had the choice between the two I would choose Abu Dhabi as a place to live, less hectic.

AD has a nice beach at Saadiyat Island. Would recommend the Park Hyatt or St. Regis which are both right on the beach and only 15 minutes from the centre of town.

If it has to be Dubai and you have children, then stay near to the beach. Jumeirah Beach Hotel or Four Seasons, or any of the hotels in the Madinat complex. If you prefer concrete & glass high rise then stay downtown or Marina areas. Suggest to avoid the Palm. It has become an overbuilt, congested tourist trap.

Lastly, if you want to watch the Irons with people of a like mind, head to the Nelson at the Media Rotana Hotel, Al Barsha.

Feel free to WhoMail me if you need more info.

Re: Dubai..........
Nothing to do with going there but I was channel hopping yesterday and stumbled across Dubai racing channel -where they had live camel racing,no jocky on board but what looked like a teddy bear on a cushion tied to their backs - the whole thing was ran inbetween about 5 lanes of traffic either side of the track - fucking weird that lot.

Re: Dubai..........
Stay at the Jumeriah Beach resort. Or near and make sure if you stay somewhere else its on the beach.

Abu Dhabi is where people go if they can't afford Dubai....

I stayed at Atlantis The Palm for a couple of weeks last year and illegally made a baby. Was great.

Re: Dubai..........
I can see the point of going there to work, namely the tax advantages, or stopping over when breaking a long plane journey but having been there I would urge you not to go there for a holiday. The place has no scenery of note, nothing culturally interesting and nothing to offer other that is not done better elsewhere.

If you want the Middle East that is not/has yet to become too westernly commercial, give Oman a sniff - but be quick.

Re: Dubai..........
Been a few times but prefer Abu Dhabi....In Dubai you bump into too many Brits.

AD is a tad more upmarket in my opinion and has more to do if you like to get out of the hotel (Ferrari World/Warner Brothers World and a great waterpark).
I was there on business last week and stayed at the St Regis ,Saadiyat Island which is a great hotel,on a lovely beach.
Stayed there with the family too back in October and we all had a great time. But be warned UAE is expensive....but worth paying up to avoid the fat Brits in football shirts and loads of tatts.

Dubai...YOURS.

Re: Dubai..........
Depends on budget...

Been a few times, One and Only Royal Mirage is my favourite, any of the hotels on the Jumeriah Madinat are good (I've stayed at the Al Qasr but they are all good).

Avoid the Atlantis, just a tourist trap. In fact avoid most of the palm (other than the trunk bit) if you plan on getting out of the hotel regularly. Takes too long to get off from the Wardolf etc.

If you don't want the beach and want to stay more city ish then the Palace Downtown looks really nice. (I haven't stayed there just been to the thai restaurant there).

That said all the 5* hotels will be good.

If you fuck your doris on the beach then they give you free accommodation.
That's my tip.
